Signs of a hidden leak

What are you noticing?

Hidden leaks often show up somewhere other than where they start.

  • A higher water bill

Usage that jumped without a clear reason.

  • Damp spots or stains

Marks on walls, ceilings or floors.

  • A meter that keeps moving

The water meter turns with everything off.

  • Running water sounds

Hissing or running water when nothing is on.

Water coming through a ceiling? Shut off the water if you can, and call now. We can usually be there today.

These guys are awesome. I called and they were on it the next day. We had a water line installed from home down to dock, had a sewer leak, a toilet running, a hot water heater installed and low water pressure. They repaired everything. All the employees were so kind and done more that what they were supposed to do. I highly recommend this company to do a great job.

My son recently inherited a 1945 mill home from his grandparents. The home needs a complete rehab, but we were looking to make it livable until the spring. It’s in a very small town and plumbers willing to take the job are limited. From the very first phone call late on a Friday afternoon about a big water leak, to the completion of the job, Duckett Plumbing exceeded my expectations. These guys are so knowledgeable. They provided me with solid options based on our needs and budget. Wayne was the best! He completed all the work on our very necessary bathroom fixes. New toilet, new shower fixtures and new shower surround. He’s thoughtful of his work and provided the best customer experience. He went so far above and beyond what was requested.

Will and Nate were.so knowledgeable and quickly assessed and diagnosed our issue with our water pressure. In addition, they provided helpful advice for troubleshooting should future issues surface. They were timely and professional and the prices were reasonable. We will call on them for future services.

Small leaks, big damage

The sooner it’s found, the less damage it does.

A slow leak inside a wall or under a floor can run for weeks. Finding the source early limits the damage and the repair.

Leak questions

Common questions about hidden leaks.

A leak is easiest to fix once you know exactly where it is.

How can I tell if I have a hidden leak?

Turn off every tap and appliance, then check the water meter. If it still moves, water is going somewhere. Call to have it traced.

Will you need to open walls?

The aim is to narrow down the source first, so any opening is as small as possible. You’ll hear the plan before work starts.

Can a toilet cause a high water bill?

Yes. A toilet that runs or leaks internally can waste a lot of water without being obvious.

What should I do while I wait?

If water is spreading, turn off the main shutoff valve and move valuables away from the area.

Do you repair the leak too?

Yes. Once the source is found, you’ll review the repair options and pricing before any work.
